IP has entered into an agreement with Turin Polytechnic, the Italian Institute of Technology and Environmental EIA - Environmental Impact Assessments to further research and innovation into new types of energy in the field of transport and mobility.
As a result of the accord, IP technicians and scientists from the three institutes will work together of innovation projects and strategic areas around ecological transition. These cover sustainable fuel production for ships and aircraft through circular economy technologies, green hydrogen for heavy transport and industrial use, along with developing innovative polymers for modified bitumens.
The agreement was signed on 28 January 2022 at Envipark, a technological park based in Turin by the leaders of the four parties. Daniele Bandiera, Managing Director of IP; Guido Saracco, Rector of Turin Polytechnic; Gianmarco Montanari, General Director of the ITT and Matteo Beccuti, CEO of Environment Park put their names to the document before Chiara Foglietta, Councillor for Ecological and Digital Transition.
The partnership will lead to the creation of a joint Scientific Board whose work will launch tests on single themes insides the respective research facilities of the three bodies and pilot projects at IP sites.
As Daniele Bandier, Managing Director of IP explains, “To ensure that transition translates into concrete development opportunities, an alliance between companies and the world of research is key. Turin has the expertise, the infrastructures and the history to be an incubator for a new approach to mobility based on new types of energy that improve the environmental impact created by transport”.
